Tsutomu Tagashira (田頭 勉) studied piano starting from the age of four. When older, he studied music at Tokyo University of the Arts (東京藝術大学), which is one of the most prestigious art schools in Japan, where he focused on contemporary music. As a professional, he became most interested in composing music for dramas and movies. His music is often described as very grand, yet very delicate.
