Fields of Rye was formed in mid-2020 when Robert Laubscher, Adam Botha and Ryan Snyman met during their high school years in Johannesburg, South Africa. And since its inception, it has been the members' shared passion for the Alternative genre that drove them to write music. The name is derived from the novel The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger and Fields of Gold, by Sting. We attempt to capture the richness and warmth of the '90s and early 2000s Alt Rock in our music – the same sound that inspired us to become musicians in the first place.
