The story of The Scarlet Goodbye is unusual, and has been called “the most unlikely match in Minnesota music history”. Dan Murphy, who was pivotal in the launch of two seminal rock bands Soul Asylum and Golden Smog, sold his guitars and amps and quit the game in 2012, in a letter published by Rolling Stone.
