Dana was the moniker of the band led by Sardinian singer Gianni Virdis (Sassari, 1953). The band had a short life, from 1977 to 1980, producing just one 7" and later renamed Mediterraneo. The original record contained “Estate” and “S’Inghelada”. The first one, sung in Italian is a sexy, summer-infused disco track with gummy moogs, while “S’Inghelada” is possibly the only disco tracks ever sung in Sardinian language, which makes this record of even higher historical importance.
