Maddex is not human, but rather an anthropomorphic projection of our own fears that has manifested itself in order to bring light to our self-inflicted pestilence as it corrodes the very foundations of our humanity. He is a monolith to our hubris and our humility. He is a martyr in the never ending battle waged against our own indifference. He is the Antichrist and the Messiah, the calm and the storm, the architect and the demolition crew. He will destroy us, but as a means to that end, he will save us.
