Anya Fernando is a 16 year old artist who has had a love for music since before she could sing; as a young child, her father introduced her to artists such as Prince, Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin, who helped to push her funk-inspired sound. In her later years she became more alternative-oriented, listening to artists like Lana Del Rey and Frank Ocean. These artists inspired her to create meaningful lyrics in order to paint a story behind each of her songs, and assisted in defining her idea of music.
