Jersey City native and son of Moroccan and Filipino parents, YP started writing at the age of 13 as a way to communicate and understand his place in the world. A lyricist heavily inspired by his unique upbringing and the Golden Era of hip-hop, YP understood the power of culture and the arts at a young age. Whether rapping alongside Ali Ssamid or gliding over the guitar loop on "Santiago," these influences can be felt in both his feature selection and stand-alone songs.
