Little Death came into the world in spring of 2018, about a year after Willy Gantrim moved to New Orleans from New York City. Upon arrival, Willy linked up with his old friend, drummer Defne “Dizzy” Incirlioglu. She in turn introduced him to her childhood friend, guitarist Sedef “Switch” Seren. Discovering a shared love of contemporary DIY music and early R&B and doo wop, the three set out to create a sound influenced by these styles to adapt to Willy’s original songs.
