Honeymooning is the solo project of Veda Schmigel, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from San Diego, California. After the disbandment of Honeypot, a band in which she played bass guitar and shared vocal duties, Veda began writing music inspired by her own personal experiences. Honeymooning began in the summer of 2019, when Veda began to record songs that she had been writing over the span of the past few years, from a makeshift studio inside of her bedroom closet.
