We want to alert our community about an ongoing scam impersonating Soundcharts. Please be vigilant against fraudulent job offers.
According to the FTC, task and job scams increased by 400% in 2024. Fraudsters are using our brand name and likeness to deceive individuals. We are taking legal action to address the situation. How does the scam work?
The impostors (commonly named Camille Rose) falsely claim to represent Soundcharts, reaching out to individuals via WhatsApp and other chat channels. They offer job opportunities or misleading services, often requesting personal information or payment.
Please be aware that Soundcharts:
- Never recruits through informal channels (WhatsApp/SMS, etc.)
- Never request payments or personal financial info outside our official platform (powered by Chargebee).

What is a task scam?
A common scam technique involves websites or mobile apps that claim you can earn money by completing simple tasks, such as watching a video, liking a post, or creating an order. A key characteristic is the requirement to complete sets of tasks with an initial payout promise. However, after a certain number of tasks, the platform demands a fee to “upgrade” the account and continue earning. This turns the scheme into an advance fee scam—victims pay to progress but can never withdraw their so-called earnings.
These scams exploit the sunk cost fallacy, making people more likely to keep investing after an initial payment. If you encounter such a scam, cut your losses immediately. Additionally, beware of “recovery scams”, where fraudsters claim to help recover lost funds in exchange for more money—this is just another trick to defraud victims further.

How to protect yourself
To spot and avoid task scams:
- Ignore generic and unexpected texts or WhatsApp messages about jobs. Real employers will never contact you that way.
- Never pay anyone to get paid or to get a job. That’s a sure sign of a scam.
- Don’t trust anyone who says they’ll pay you to rate or like things online. That’s illegal, and no honest company will do it.
To help prevent others from falling victim, we encourage you to report these fraudulent sites to official phishing monitoring services:
- Google Safe Browsing: Report Phishing
- Phishing Initiative (EU-based): Submit a report
- Federal Trade Commission Fraud Report: Report a fraud
If you have lost money due to this scam, you can file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): File a complaint.
