Adaline, aka Shawna Colleen Beesley, is a singer and songwriter who blends indie rock with torchy, dark electropop. Born in Ottawa, Canada, she had an itinerant childhood due to her father's work as a minister. A musician from childhood, she was out of touch with current music trends when she started writing songs because pop music was discouraged in her conservative household. When she was exposed to it later, she embraced the idea that her atmospheric, textured style would likely be more suited to film and television than the Top Ten.
