I took my Doctoral Degree in Jazz piano at the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where I had to work really hard in order to achieve the institution’s level of excellence. While I was there studying Jazz, I took advantage to promote the music and culture of Brazil. My doctoral essay was entitled The musical thought of Egberto Gismonti in 7 Anéis for piano. With this work, I had the opportunity to present to the Academy, the history of Brazilian music, with special attention to Choro and to the music of the Brazilian composer, Egberto Gismonti.
