About Coolgate
Coolgate is a fusion-inspired jazz band. They blend genres such as jazz, rock, blues and funk. Drawing inspiration from legends such as Casiopea, The Brecker Brothers, Mike Stern, Weather Report and others, while still having a contemprary feel to it. Improvisation is a key part of their music. Formed in 2021 in Tromsø, Norway. (where the band members studied "Rhythmic Music" at the Music Conservatory in Tromsø (UiT), the band quickly rose to fame locally and played at the prestigious Tromsø Jazzfestival within their first year, and then at Festspillene I Nord-Norge the year after that.
