Lavardo Sands, also known as ‘Shine’ , was born in Nassau, Bahamas. He is a descendant of Cat Island and San Salvador Island, two of the most culturally rich islands in The Bahamas. Shine developed an early interest in music, primarily as a self taught musician playing the keyboard, trombone, sousaphone, saxophone, drum and participating as a Baritone player in the world acclaimed Junkanoo Parade hosted in The Bahamas every Christmas.
