Spanish singer/songwriter from Sevilla Manuel Cuesta was strongly influenced by a Latin style known as Canto Nuevo or Nueva Canción, which is characterized by easy listening tunes, normally performed by a single vocalist backed by acoustic guitars, singing philosophic lyrics based on life and people, sometimes focused on social issues.
