About Chacalón y la Nueva Crema
Lorenzo Palacios Quispe, better known by his stage name Chacalón ("Big Jackal"), was a prominent Peruvian singer who rose to fame as the frontman of the chicha group Chacalón y la Nueva Crema. Born on April 26, 1950, in the city of Lima, Chacalón began his musical journey singing huaynos with his brother in local bars and restaurants. After a brief stint with the groups Los Amigos del Barrio and Grupo Celeste in the late 1960s and early 1970s, he teamed up with guitarist José Luis Carballo to form the chicha band Chacalón y la Nueva Crema, which became a symbol of the Andean music scene as ...
