About Material
Based out of Vancouver, BC, Material formed in 2017. Initially, Material drew upon the desperate post-punk of UK band The Sound, the high-energy rock and roll of The Heartbreakers, and certain melodic sensibilities found in power-pop to create an emotional sound still catchy enough to move around to. More recently, Material has begun to take influence from indie rock in the vein of Television and Felt. Material released their last album, "Release," in June 2024, recorded with Nick Short at CHOMS Studio shortly before disbanding. They also released an LP, "Leather," in 2019 and a demo in 201...
