About Sangeeta
Sangeeta rose to fame in the early 1990s with her unique music which combined soft bhangra beats with Hindi lyrics. Her catchy melodies and lush string arrangements created a platform for a new sentiment - expressing a woman’s voice in a male-dominated Bhangra scene. Born in Luton, England, Sangeeta showed a passion for singing in her early years. Perhaps written in destiny (her name meaning music in Hindi), she was presented an award by singing superstar Lata Mangeshkar at the BBC Radio Asian Song Contest in 1979.
