Born in the Bayou City, Mason started his musical journey at the age of five banging on toy drums to the radio playing. At the age of nine he began teaching himself guitar. Around eleven he joined a band, Pyro Penguins, with some of his friends and started playing live shows. In High School, Mason got into recording and producing music and continued to do so throughout his college days. While a student at Texas State, he stopped by a songwriter's night at Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, Texas to see if he could find people to record or start a band with.
