About The Wait
Formed in London by guitarist Andy Linden, bassist Hamish Champ and drummer Duncan Clayton in late 1982, The Wait carved out their own pop/indie niche influenced by the UK’s post-punk scene. With thoughtful lyrics written by singer Jeanette Purcell and urged on by the frenetic rhythm guitar work of Pat Bristow the band wrote and performed a catalogue of songs to audiences across the UK, including two self-issued 7” singles, ‘Cry (Without Tears)’ and the darker ‘Beaches And Parks’, the latter getting airtime on John Peel’s late-night Radio One programme shortly after its release in 1986.
