About Wolfsheim
Wolfsheim was a German synthpop duo from Hamburg, active between 1987 and 2005. The band consisted of Markus Reinhardt (music) and Peter Heppner (vocals and lyrics). Their sound blended elements of New Wave, synthpop, and darkwave, characterized by melancholic yet modernist themes. The band took its name from Meyer Wolfsheim, a character in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Wolfsheim’s breakthrough came with their 1991 single “The Sparrows and the Nightingales,” followed by their debut album No Happy View (1992).
