About Dozi
Dozi (Hendrik Opperman) is an Afrikaans music icon. The singer and TV personality was born in 1964 in Hluhluwe in Natal and was raised to speak Zulu fluently. As a student he performed in bars and dives at night, resulting in him constantly dozing off in lectures and earning him the nickname, Dozi. He released his first Zulu album, ‘Mercy’, in 1999 and rose to prominence for his cover of Chris Blignaut’s ‘’Ou Ryperd’’ and released his first Afrikaans Album, ‘’Op Aanvraag’’ in 2001.
