Through her artist name, Gertrude, pays homage to her maternal grandmother, Sasha-Courtney Hofisi’s musical metamorphosis is much more tied to the people and places who have raised her. Originally from San Diego, Gertrude, the daughter of two Zimbabwean immigrants began making music at the age of 15.
