About Host
Host is the recording and performance project from the Providence, Rhode Island artist Alex Maddalena. Building on the elemental loop work of his first LP, his new album, Time Smoking A Picture, reinterprets classical structures for the electric guitar. The result is a two part work that’s as cinematic and operatic as it is emotionally devastating. The same crescendos and guttural walls of sound that christened the genre “Desk Metal” for his early works are present here along with a newfound sonic and emotional depth.
