Rami Fortis is considered the forerunner of Israeli punk, although this has more to do with his D.I.Y. aesthetic, protest lyrics, and on-stage antics than his musical legacy. His era-defining debut album, Plonter, was released in 1978, yet was not immediately recognized for its significance. In fact, it sold poorly.
