Though he has been active in South African hip-hop circles since the 2000s, DJ Jawz (born Itumeleng Sebola in 1981) doesn’t limit himself to one specific category. This can be partly attributed to influences such as DJ Fresh, DJ Christos, and Oskido, who laid the foundation for house, electro, and kwaito in South Africa. In the early 2010s, the multifaceted club DJ and radio personality was an Afrobeats advocate, and began releasing his own songs in the mid-2010s.
