About Detmar Leertouwer
Violoncellist Detmar Leertouwer was born in the Netherlands. As musician he is equally at home with the modern 'cello and its repertoire as with earlier musical styles using period instruments. He started piano lessons with his mother and later began to play violoncello. He studied in the Netherlands, the U.S.A and in Switzerland. Detmar Leertouwer was prize winner in the 'van Wassenaer Competition Amsterdam' and he was awarded the first ensemble prize with 'I Musici Gelosi' in the 'Schmelzer Wettbewerb' in Melk.
